How To Use the Wind Analysis Module

Updated over 3 months ago

Introduction

The Wind Analysis module allows you to evaluate wind data to optimize energy generation and performance. The tracked data analyzes wind speed, wind direction, and how that correlates into energy production, depending on specific power plant settings and capabilities.

Steps

Go to: Farsight > Wind Analysis > Wind Analysis

  1. The Assets button opens the assets dropdown to choose which assets to view. You can choose to view one turbine asset at a time and later on compare the power curve with up to 8 other assets

  2. Use the calendar to choose which time period to analyze

  3. You can choose to view the trend view data or logbook data for the same asset, alternatively, in either the logbook or trend viewer

  4. You can narrow down your results by using the Filter Wind Direction button. Select the direction in degrees and click the Update button to apply the filter. Clicking the Clear Filter button will reset them

  5. The Power Curve showcases the observed power curve analyzed from the historical data collected in the desired time period. You can further compare assets and visualize Reference Power Curves (as declared by the manufacturers)

  6. The Wind Rose is a graphical representation of monitored wind conditions. Wind rose graphs illustrate wind speed and wind direction average values distributed over a particular period of time on a specific site

  7. The Wind Distribution is a graph of the frequency of the wind speed, with the Weibull and Rayleigh approximations used

  8. Radar Data is a tabular form of the wind rose representation
