Grid Onboarding

Introduction

A grid connection is the physical link between a power-generating project like a solar farm or wind farm and the electricity network. Onboarding your GRID connections to your Farsight® account is a quick and easy process. You can easily reduce the onboarding time from weeks and months to a few minutes.

Requirements

  • Farsight® Admin account

  • Pre-shared Key

  • Remote IP

  • Remote Subnet

Adding a Connection, Sites and Assets in Farsight®

Once you have the requirements above, you will need to use the onboarding wizard to add a connection and then add your sites and assets.

Go to: Asset Manager > Asset Manager > Add Connection

1. Select Grid

2. Click on the Next button

Log in and Connect

1. From the dropdown, select Modbus TCP

2. Check the Network Requirements. You need to ensure that you have at least 1 Mbps upload speed, 2 Mbps download speed and 100 ms latency to use Farsight® effectively

3. Enter the Pre-Shared Key

4. Add your Remote IP

5. Enter your Remote Subnet

6. Click on Next

7. Check your Farsight Subnet

8. Confirm Farsight VPN IP

9. Click Next to move forward

Once your connection is added, you will be redirected to the Asset Manager page.

Add a Site

1. If you did not add a site while adding the connection, you can do it by going into the connection and clicking Add Sites

2. Add a Plant Name

3. Add the URL for the TCP Server

4. Choose a Username

5. Input the Password associated to the username

6. Upload the Certificate File

7. Upload the Private Key File

8. Choose to Import Data for your site

9. Test Connection before adding it

10. Once the test has succeeded, click Save

Add an Asset

1. Click on the Connection

2. Click Add Assets

3. Choose the assets you want to add

4. Choose a Model for each asset

5. Choose to Import Data for a desired time.

6. Click Finish when done and you will be taken to your Assets page
