Sungrow iSolarCloud Onboarding

Updated over 4 months ago

Introduction

Onboarding Sungrow solar sites into FarSight ® is a quick and easy process. Follow the steps below to have your assets available in a matter of minutes.

Requirements

  • Farsight® Admin account

  • Your account name, password, API key, and Access Key for the Sungrow iSolarCloud centralized server. If you do not have these, you must first login to your Sungrow iSolarCloud web portal, then go to https://developer-api.isolarcloud.com/#/createApplication to create a new API account. Once you have filled out the form and have been approved by Sungrow, then they will send you these credentials so that you can enter them into Farsight®

Creating a Sungrow Connection

Once you have the requirements above, go to the Farsight® web app at https://farsight.app, then go to the menu bar on the left side and click on

Go to: Asset Manager > Asset Manager > Add Connection

First, you must select which type of connection you want to establish. You can find Sungrow under solar connections.

1. Select Technology

1. Click on Solar

2. Click the Next button

2. Log In and Connect

  1. Select Sungrow (iSolarCloud API v1)

  2. Check the Network Requirements

  3. Enter the Sungrow iSolarCloud API URL. This will be different depending on your region and can be obtained from the URL that you use to access the iSolarCloud web portal

    1. Europe uses isolarcloud.eu

    2. China uses isolarcloud.com.cn

    3. Australia uses isolarcloud.com

    4. Other international users use isolarcloud.com.hk

  4. Enter the Account name

  5. Enter the Account password

  6. Enter the Application Key

  7. Enter the Access Key

  8. Click on Test Connection to make sure everything is working properly. This is mandatory to be able to proceed to the next step. If successful, you can proceed to the next step and add a power plant. If the test fails, check that all of your credentials are correct and contact us if you are still experiencing issues

  9. Click on the Next button

3. Add Power Plant

  1. You can choose one site to add immediately by clicking on the radio button to the left of the site name. Other sites can be added at any time in Asset Manager once you are finished with this initial setup

  2. It is recommended that you import the historical data for the site at this step. You can choose any period from Don’t Import to Up to 10 years

  3. Click the Save and Proceed button to import your site and go to Asset Manager.

Note: When importing historical data, we can only import existing data going as far back as the original source allows. If your site has only been connected to the iSolarCloud web portal for three months, then we can only import three months of data.

4. Add Assets

After clicking Save and Proceed, you will be taken to the Asset Manager page. From here, you can now see your new Sungrow connection.

Connections Page

Once the site has been added, you will be redirected to the Connections page.

  1. Click the Sungrow connection you recently added

Sites Page

The Sites page shows all of the sites added to your connection. You can click on the name of each site to view all of the assets which have been added and to add new assets to the site.

  1. Click on the site you have added

Add Assets to a Connection

The assets list is prepopulated with all available assets. You can choose which individual assets you want to add to your power plant.

  1. Click on the individual assets you want to add

  2. Click on the cabin dropdown to select a cabin

  3. If no cabins exist, you can create a new one. Type in the new cabin name. Industry practices suggest that cabins should be named in order from A to Z, but you can use any name that you wish

  4. Click on the + Add new button to finish creating the new cabin

  5. Choose whether to import historical data or not. If you want to import data, you can choose to import from the last month, the last three months, the last year, or up to 10 years. Depending on the subscription tier you are using, some limits may apply

After you finish selecting all the assets that you want to add and finish adding cabins to all of them, click on the Finish button to import the assets. If the Finish button is not blue, please check that you have clicked on the checkbox to the left of the asset name and have a cabin assigned in the rightmost columns.
